In 2024, Ashcroft Church reviewed our circumstances and after much prayer and thought, put in place our Mission Plan. The Plan is refreshed annually to reflect changing needs and aspirations. It forms the basis for our vision and values and is integrated into how we plan and manage our mission for God in this place. In 2026, our Mission Plan states:
Strengthened and enabled by God’s Holy Spirit, the Ashcroft Church community commits to:
- Celebrate and share the good news of Jesus Christ and the hope of God’s Kingdom with all, as the focus of all we do;
- Support, nurture and equip the Ashcroft Church family to develop their faith, gifts and discipleship in the face of changing practical circumstances, through engaging, participative and sustaining worship, prayer, Bible study, learning, fellowship and family meals, and serve, and share in the church’s activities as they are able;
- Provide pastoral care for all in the church family, regardless of age, disability or circumstances, to enable each individual to feel accepted and valued;
- Be pro-actively an open, welcoming and inclusive fellowship which celebrates, safeguards, and affirms every person regardless of background or circumstances, and does not judge or discriminate;
- Serve and engage people with God in our neighbourhood and its care homes, our town, and in the wider world, through our time and giving, accessible worship, prayer support, meeting with people where they are, listening and providing emotional support;
- Be an effective centre of community within our town, using our premises for our own church-led outreach activities to meet particular needs, and by supporting / working with charities and organisations using our premises that share compatible values; in conjunction with a Mission Layworker;
- Develop the ways in which we promote and communicate understanding of our faith and Christian service, within our Church family, to those who use our premises, and those around us in the local community, in conjunction with a Mission Layworker, though our information, displays, audio-visual system, printed and digital media;
- Proactively uphold Christian values on social justice, including action on local, and environmental issues, and actively strive to be an Eco-Church;
- Be good stewards of maintaining and refurbishing the Ashcroft Church premises, improving financial and resource sustainability, including through hirings, funding bids, and a Mission Layworker, as circumstances allow, and monitor and investigate options for the continued long-term operation of the Church should situations change;
- Work more closely with Anglican and other ecumenical partners in Cirencester and Churches Together in Cirencester, to ensure a thriving, diverse Christian long-term presence in the town, however that might best be achieved.
