At Ashcroft we love to worship together and it is always a joy to be able to do that in our Sunday meeting. However we recognise that currently gathering together in groups, for some, presents significant risk. We will continue to meet on Sundays at 10:30am for worship, along with our early 9.15am Communion on the third Sunday, but suggest that if you are older or have underlying health conditions, you consider if it is essential to join us in worship at that time.
The Methodist Church has suggested that ‘older members and those with medical conditions causing weaker health and greater vulnerability should consider not attending church for the time being if they’re worried about infection. This is an act of mutual care and concern, and is not a desire that people ‘give up’ Church.’
As with all our other groups and events we ask that you do not attending if:
– you have a new, continuous cough or fever or shortness of breath
– you have been in contact with someone who’s suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19
– you consider yourself at particular risk due to underlying health conditions etc.
Whilst normally we are enthusiastic greeters, and you’ll still receive a warm welcome at Ashcroft, we are suggesting people refrain from hugs and handshakes, and ensure good personal hygiene including washing of hands on entering the building.
If you need to self isolate or are unable to join us do let us know so that we can keep in touch, let you pastoral visitor know, ensure you get support you need and continue to check that all is well with you as things progress.
If the time comes that we are unable to run Church gatherings then we will update the website and call around Church members. However even though that may mean we don’t have a weekly meeting it doesnt stop us from worshipping, praying, strengthening one another, serving and more. We’ll just be doing that in a different way!
If you can’t attend you can download this service sheet to use at home. Alternatively you can watch a live streamed worship service from Wesley’s Chapel here (starts 11.00am every Sunday) and live stream from Cliff College here (starts every Wednesday .
Please join us in praying for all those affected by the Coronavirus at this time.
